Veronica Evans, Director of Veronica Evans Ltd., is a well-established independent housing consultant based in Leeds. She has a deep-rooted knowledge of housing and related matters, based on a wide-ranging career in the sector. This includes roles with local authorities, housing associations, The Chartered Institute of Housing, The National Housing Federation, a Sector Skills Council and The Housing Corporation.
Veronica is a Chartered member of the CIH and sits on their Yorkshire and Humberside Board. She is also a CIH tutor and associate lecturer at Leeds Beckett University.
Veronica has been an Associate with Jay Consulting since 2012 and has contributed significantly to our work on the Asset Skills World of Work Higher Level Skills projects as well as the Student Ambassador Project. She is currently leading on a research project for the Alliance group of housing associations.
Dr Caroline Sudworth is Director of STEM Explored Ltd, an innovative independent consultancy, specialising in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) vocational education and training.
STEM Explored delivers evidence based solutions for organisations focussing on further & higher education and skills and professional development, providing specialist assistance based on extensive experience in the STEM skills and training arena. STEM Explored’s expertise ranges from vocational education, apprenticeships, further and higher education through to employability and continual professional development.
Caroline has been associated with Jay Consulting since her time working at Cogent Sector Skills Council and has contributed to our work on a number of Higher Level Skills projects, with a particular focus on employer engagement and student employability.
Simon Williams is Director of Service Insights Ltd.
A Research Fellow and the University of Leeds, he is a social science researcher with over 15 years’ experience in the social housing sector and over 10 years’ experience in the charitable sector. With skills in quantitative and qualitative techniques and a pragmatic approach to identifying service improvements, he is a strong advocate of customer-focussed evidence-led decision making.
He has substantial experience of delivering service reviews, tenant scrutinies and business improvement projects. He is currently completing a PhD at Leeds University Business School on service quality in English housing associations Simon is Chair of the Regional Research Forum for Yorkshire and Humberside, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Housing, a member of the Housing Studies Association, and an associate member of LARIA.
He has been associated with Jay Consulting since 2015, has led a project with Leeds Jewish Housing Association and is working with Veronica, Jane and Judy on research for the Alliance group of housing associations.
Dr Rachael Unsworth is an urban geographer with over 30 years’ experience of both commercial and academic research.
After completing a geography degree and PhD at the University of Cambridge, she was Head of Research for a firm of surveyors in London. During that time, she helped to set up and run the Society of Property Researchers.
As a part-time lecturer at the University of Leeds from 1994 until 2013, research and teaching came under the heading of the long-term evolution of cities, including prospects for the future. Her work has included pioneering research on city living and inner city regeneration. In 2004 she was co-writer and editor of a sixteen-chapter book: ‘21st century Leeds: geographies of a regional city’, co-authoring the housing chapter with Jane Kettle.
For many years Rachael has been actively involved in policy formulation on planning and urban design, development, housing and environment. She has been a trustee of Leeds Civic Trust since 2008 and has been a contributor to Leeds Sustainable Development Group since its inception in 2010, collaborating to draw up creative proposals for long-term regeneration.
Now a geographer at large, she is engaged in freelance consultancy and writing. Since 2015 she has been working on evaluation and further development of the employability skills programme delivered by Leeds-based Ahead Partnership.
Rachael is a member of the Town & Country Planning Association, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and an Honorary Fellow of the Society of Property Researchers.
