Case Study 2: National HE STEM
Who we worked with
The National Higher Education Science Technology Engineering Maths (HE STEM) Programme
The aims of the project
We were engaged by the National HE STEM programme for two projects related to the employability and employer engagement developments in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths based across England and Wales, and funded through the programme. These projects involved careful management, communicating with over 50 projects leads and officers and synthesising their project outcomes.
The steps taken to achieve the aims
We undertook an extensive literature review and surveyed all the projects, developed a thematic framework and produced a synthesis of project activities and outcomes. In addition we completed a report on behalf of the University of Bradford on the specific outcome of the North East regional programme.
We used a number of different approaches to gathering information for the project including desk research and primary consultations with key stakeholders using a survey tool, attendance at regional and local events and workshops with project leads and officers in order to gather information we analysed using our thematic framework.
Over a two year period we managed the project producing regular reports to the commissioners and keeping to time and within budget.
Our qualitative research was pulled together in a published contextual literature review and a demonstrator report highlighting the impact and achievements of the 50+ projects and summarised at a national conference.
